COMMON GROUND contact improvisation course

An explorative journey into CI.

A space to foster physical skills while practicing embodiment as a form of political resistance and care.

What to expect

//Care, Consent & Agency: Sensing boundaries and needs; tools for entering and exiting contact.

//Embodiment: Deepening your body connection through movement, somatics and bodywork.

//Technical Tools: falling, weight-sharing, push & pull, resisting, flying, floorwork and basic contact impro forms

//Dance & Improvisation: Playful exploration in solo, duo, and group constellations.

The dance floor is a meeting place for our diverse identities and questions that move us.

19.05. & 02.06. Körperräume

Unsere Körperräume – eine Quelle an Informationen, Wahrnehmungen, Ressourcen. Gemeinsam wollen wir forschen, begreifen, staunen. Eine tiefe, bewusste Beziehung zu unseren Körpern aufbauen. Themen, die uns beschäftigen, somatisch einbetten und erspüren. Ressourcen und Handlungsspielräume in unserer Verkörperung finden, für uns und die Welt.

Mit einer Mischung aus erfahrbarer Anatomie, improvisierter Bewegung und Bodywork/Berührung verspielt Körperräume erschließen. Mit Fokus auf unterschiedliche körperliche Aspekte und Qualitäten, und Offenheit, sie auch etwas anderes erzählen zu lassen.

Inspired by the practice of integrative bodywork/ Integrative Körperarbeit, we will dive into the basics of
bodywork with a LGBTQIA+-sensitive approach, in a queer & TIN-centered space. Allies are welcome too.

This online program gives you access to audio recordings of somatic and movement practices, creative scores and reflective questions, that you can practice anytime, anywhere!

The topic for the fall season (September- November) is grounding poetries: Yielding, grounding and rooting – composing and composting movements – layers and entanglements of being – nutrients – community – co-creative poetries

The topic for the winter season (December-February) is regenerative poetries: Regenerative principles – bones & breath – stillness as movement – attunement to the animal body – deep rest – care –

poetries of simplicity

In addition, we will feed our mycelium of practice at our seasonal online gatherings across all kinds of landscapes to collect emergent knowledge and ferment principles for relating with the more-than-human world through collective practice, composition and exchange.

Location: in your own area and online

Costs: freely chosen according to your means between 20 – 50€ per season. No one will be turned away for lack of funds – if money is a barrier to participate for you, please get in touch.

No prior experience required.

Language: The audios and facilitation are in English, with possible translation in German and French at the online gatherings, and you are welcome to express yourself in any language.

re_creative playground

to_gæther is an experimental space to move, play, process, (co-)create, recharge in community. It’s a queerfeminist research into creating and navigating space for collective re_generation.

After a short intro and guided somatic arrival, we are free to explore and move between improvisational zones for dancing/playing, drawing/painting, writing/text, and resting, on our own and in emerging constellations –
following our curiosities and needs, embodying our agency, embracing the mess, in a held container.

Let’s re_generate & experiment together_ness!
